Bold and italic HTML text not displaying in a text field with embedded fonts in Flash CS3 Professional

January 10th, 2009 admin Posted in Adobe Flash CS3 Professional 3 Comments »

Let’s say you have a dynamic text field in Flash CS3 Professional in which you’ve embedded the fonts (via the Embed… button on the properties panel). The font style is normal. If you wish to format text applied to the .htmlText property with HTML formating tags (<b>, <i>), you’ll need to also make sure you have additional text fields set to those font styles somewhere on the stage. They can be in an area outside the visible area of the stage. If Flash does not have these additional styles, it will drop that text (or may render it as normal style).

Example:

What you get

Here’s what you need

Unable to access IIS over LAN

July 12th, 2008 admin Posted in IIS 1 Comment »

Issue: Firefox and IE display a blank page when trying to access an IIS 5.1 server from another computer on the LAN.

This turned out to be caused by Windows Firewall on the IIS computer. I turned that off and everything ran fine. It would probably be better to specify something in Windows Firewall to allow my other computers to access IIS than to turn it off completely.

ActiveSync 4.1 can’t sync contacts on Verizon VX6700 with contacts in Outlook 2002

August 2nd, 2007 admin Posted in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Computing, Epson Perfection 4180 Photo, Hardware, Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1, Microsoft Mobile 5.0, Microsoft Outlook 2002, Microsoft Outlook Mobile, Software, Troubleshooting, Verizon VX6700 1 Comment »

Issue: ActiveSync 4.1 (included on the Getting Started CD for the VX6700) shows a red exclamation after synchronizing with your VX6700 and doesn’t synchronize contacts.

Upgrade to ActiveSync 4.5. It’s free and can be downloaded from the ActiveSync 4.5 page on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile site. If you install the software while your phone is connected, you’ll need to turn your phone off and on to sync. It should automatically start syncing when you turn the phone back on.

After installing ActiveSync 4.5, I received a notification that I needed to set Outlook as the default mail client. I didn’t, and It seems to work fine without doing so.

Note: I didn’t actually sync any e-mails, as I didn’t have any in either Outlook Mobile or Outlook 2002.

“Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.”

Issue: You receive the following error when you open a Premiere 6.5 project file (.ppj) in Premiere Pro 2.0:

“Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.”

This is most likely caused by an error in the workspace layout. Open the recovered project file and immediately change your workspace to default. Save as a new file.

“Could not complete the Import command because of a problem with the acquisition module interface.”

August 2nd, 2007 admin Posted in Adobe Photoshop CS2, Computing, Epson Perfection 4180 Photo, Hardware, Software, Troubleshooting No Comments »

Issue: You receive the following error when attempting to launch File >> Import…>> EPSON Perfection 4180..

“Could not complete the Import command because of a problem with the acquisition module interface.”

This problem seemed to occur after I attempted to fire the Import.. command from Photoshop when the scanner wasn’t on. Neither rebooting the computer nor rebooting the scanner fixed the problem.

Solved by running the scanner in stand alone mode using Scan and Save. This switched the scanner interface to Full Auto. It then worked and I was able to reset to professional mode. Also added additional drive to scratch disks while trying to resolve this issue.
